Introduction to Construction Site Fire Safety Manager Training Course


The Fire Department City of New York (FDNY) will be delivering all schools with a comprehensive program. No further add-ons or deletion is going to be authorized by schools aside from schools transforming FDNY accredited materials to Power Point.

The Construction Site Fire Safety Manager Training material will be given to authorized schools not to individuals.

Fire Safety Manager Course Scope


This segment sets forth the normal hours of classroom training and subject’s necessary for Department certification of training courses for accreditation of fitness for construction site fire safety manager.

Training Course General Provisions


(1)    Standard accreditation prerequisites. Construction site fire safety manager training program shall abide the general training institution accreditation standards, requirements and procedures established in R113-04.
(2)    Instructor requirements. Instruction in construction site fire safety manager classes shall be carried out by persons with fire code, construction, fire prevention/suppression, engineering or other suitable knowledge or experience that qualifies them to train the particular instructional subjects of the training course.

 Fire Safety Manager Course Required Hours and Topics of Instruction


(1)    Training courses should certainly, at least, provide a minimum of seven (7) hours of training.
(2)    Training courses should certainly provide training in the following topics, and such various other issues as the Department may possibly from time to time employ by published notice to certified training course providers:
a.)    Overview of the Fire Code and Fire Department Rules, such as their organization and terms.
b.)    Fire Code construction site provisions (FC Chapter 14 and 3 RCNY Chapter 14).
c.)     All construction site fire safety requirements, as established in 3 RCNY 1401-01(c).

 Construction Site Fire Safety Manager Course Administration and Completion


(1)    Students need to go to all training sessions to be qualified to take the training course’s final exam.
(2)    Students will probably be allowed two (2) chances to pass the final exam. Students who are unsuccessful in the final test on the second try shall be forced to re-attend Construction Site Fire Safety Manager Course in its entirety.

Construction Site Fire Safety Manager Training Course

The CDA Unit of the New York City Fire Safety Department (FDNY) has started to implement the certificate of fitness requirement for the Construction Site Fire Safety Manager (CSFSM).

Additionally, the FDNY has indicated that in this situation, if the Construction Site Fire Safety Manager provides proof that they're enrolled/scheduled to take this safety training class, or have previously taken looking forward to clearance to take the certification of fitness test, they'll be given a 30 “progress” waiver instead of a violation.

FDNY Fire Safety Manager Certification

The CDA Unit of the FDNY initiated a policy of to implement the CSFSM S-56 certificate of fitness requirement for the Construction Site Fire Safety Manager. The FDNY details how this really is being charged and what's going to be done if the CSFSM hasn't obtained their certification.

The FDNY has also established that in this situation, if the CSFSM gives proof that they're enrolled/scheduled to take this Construction Site Fire Safety Manager training course, or already have taken awaiting clearance to consider certificate of fitness examination, they'll be given a 30 “progress” waiver in lieu of a violation.

Construction Site Fire Safety Manager Certification Course

The career of Construction Site Fire Safety Manager (CSFSM) was developed responding to a volume of tragic incidents that happened at construction sties in the City of New York. FDNY rules now need the existence of a CSFSM at all construction sites recognized by the Department of Buildings of the City of New York (exact standards as o the kind of construction requesting a CSFSM are already out on the summer of 2011). To be able to obtain a Certificate of Fitness as a Construction Site Safety Manager a person must enroll in a seven (7) hour construction site fire safety manager training program conducted by a certified instructor at a training center accredited to teach this course by the FDNY. ABLE Safety Consulting has been approved to teach this fire manager course. Our dynamic teaching personnel will provide training in the following areas:


  • Introduction to the Fire Code and Fire Department Rules, such as their organization and terms.

  • Fire Code construction site provisions (FC Chapter 14 and 3 RCNY Chapter 14).

  • All of construction site fire safety specifications, as established in 3 RCNY 1401-01(c).
Construction Site Fire Safety Manager Certification Training will be given by FSD’s professional staff of instructors1, all of whom have already been authorized by the FDNY and a various local, state and federal agencies.
